Statement Of Faith

  • PDF

It is unwise and even perilous to make evangelism/missions a rallying point for believers or congregations of diverse or undefined doctrinal viewpoints. Truth and the desire to make it known among people must be the uniting force.

Since evangelism/missions is primarily a task of communicating God’s truth to people, biblical doctrine is primary. Any ministry that does not concern itself with biblical doctrine or generalizes its doctrinal statement in order to maintain fellowship with the greatest number of professing Christians (i.e., supporters) has lost its very purpose and possibly its very soul.

With that said, our statement of faith is designed to make a very specific declaration of what we believe to be the truth of scripture. Exegetical study of the scriptures, in which our theology is based,  is the singular and primary way in which we define who we are and also who we are not. We do not seek to redefine, nor reshape the rich history of God's truth, but to stand upon it shoulder to shoulder with great men and women of God throughout the ages. We, by choice and by conviction, are linked to the past orthodox confessions and creeds of the faith.

  • We are Protestant.
  • We are reformed (and ever reforming).
  • We fully agree with the doctrines of grace or the 5-points of Calvinism.
  • We fully agree with the five solas of the Protestant Reformation.
  • We are Baptist.

We are furthermore committed to the fundamental biblical position that the gospel is the sole means given by God to change hearts and minds and thus truly transform lives. We believe that the gospel is clear, defineable, and powerful enough in itself for salvation.

The 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith

This ancient document is the most excellent epitome of the things most surely believed among us. It is not issued as an authoritative rule or code of faith, whereby you may be fettered, but as a means of edification in righteousness. It is an excellent, though not inspired, expression of the teaching of those Holy Scriptures by which all confessions are to be measured. We hold to the humbling truths of God's sovereign grace in the salvation of lost sinners. Salvation is through Christ alone and by faith alone.

-C.H. Spurgeon
