So You Call Yourself A Christian

So You Call Yourself A Christian

I've written a book. It's been a few months in the working and it's finally done. You can purchase it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/So-You-Call-Yourself-Christian/dp/1463786697/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313699811&sr=1-4

Here's the introduction to the book which explains why I wrote it.

"I have met many, many people who profess to be Christians. I have also been burdened that the vast majority who claim to be Christians show very little, if any, evidence that they have truly had an encounter with the God of the Universe. Let me for a moment entertain you with an analogy I once heard that sums up the issue at hand.

Imagine with me that you and I are scheduled to meet somewhere for lunch today. You arrive at the destination and look around and don’t see me anywhere. You take a seat and order something to drink and take a quick glance at your watch and wonder if everything is okay. A few minutes pass and you see me walking in. I take a seat, apologize to you, and begin to explain to you why I was running a little late.

I explain that on the way to meet you today something in the road punctured my tire and gave me a flat and that I had to pull over and change the tire on the side of the highway. As I was changing the tire a few of the lug nuts fell out of my hand and rolled into the middle of the road.

Without thinking I stepped out to grab them and instantly, twenty feet in front of me, there appeared a four ton logging truck going 95 mph and it ran me over completely – but I am here and I am fine. Thanks for waiting on me.

You look at me with a wide-eyed, bewildered look. You think to yourself that I would have to be one of two things; either I would have to be a raving liar or I would have to be completely insane. You come to the conclusion that there is no way that I could have an encounter with something that large going that fast and not be permanently changed.

So now I ask you, dear professing Christian, which is bigger – God or a logging truck?

You say that you’ve had an encounter with the God of the Universe. Have you been permanently changed?

This is exactly the question we are going to explore in this short booklet. We are going to look at 25 evidences of a true Christian."

I have prayed about this book and asked the Lord to use it to open the eyes of those around me. May He be glorified. In the back of my mind when I began this project I just wanted to sit down and write something to hand to friends and family that I am burdened over. I also wanted something I could hand to the vast majority of people I meet when sharing the gospel who have all the right answers but who seem to lack a truly born-again nature. Isn't this the plague that America is infected with? Lastly, I wanted to write it for true believers to examine themselves according to 2 Corinthians 13:5. After all, that's not a suggestion.

I've also setup a Facebook for the book. You can find it here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/So-You-Call-Yourself-A-Christian/246736422027536. It's basically there for you to share your thoughts on the book and how it has impacted you or those around you whom you've given it to. Feel free to "Like" it and post something on the Wall.

May Christ alone receive glory from this.

Pass this info along if you think anyone might benefit from it.

p.s. I wish I could sell it for much, much cheaper. I intended to sell it for $1 (not really wanting to make money from this), but soon found out that the publisher has to make some money also. So I set the price within pennies of the bare minimum publishing price set by the publisher.

"But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ." 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
